PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

*Occupation of extension assistant with the Save the Children organization in Lebanon

( 1993 ).

 The main activities accomplished are:

 - Rural and social development.

- Extension  activities  such as visiting farmers at fields and giving them advices about different agriculture matters.

- Loans program to small farmers

* Occupation of a national united nations volunteer (nunv) agriculture engineer under the project leb/91/002 (undp-  fao and lari ) "improvement and development of olive culture in south lebanon" (january 1994 - december 1995).

 The main activities accomplished are:

- Development of olive sector.

- Establishment of an olive nursery to produce seedlings of good quality.

- Formation programs including presentations of different and important themes about  olive culture, production of a number of brochures about different subjects such as pests and diseases that attack olive and also cultural practices, in addition to organization of local and aboard workshops.

- Demonstration  parcelles  for exhibiting different cultural practices on olive such as grafting, pruning , fertilization and others.

- Executing researches on pests and diseases that attack olive to study  their life cycles, repartitions  and best methods of control.

* Research engineer   at LARI ( november 1995 and still upto current date).

The main activities are:

Research assistant.

- Executing research programs on different cultures such as  citrus and olive.

- Executing of research programs on olive pests  and diseases such as olive moth and olive fruit fly and verticillium dahliae … etc.

- Studying of different citrus rootstocks and cultivars and their adaptability to our area.

- Production  of olive seedlings of good quality.

ACTIVITIES:

* Research on:   study the development and the repartition of the two olive key pests in south lebanon ( bactrocera oleae and prays oleae) and ways of control.

* Research on: study the wilting disease causes by verticillium dahliae on olive trees and its control.

* Research on: the introduction of new citrus rootstocks and the study of adabtability to local environment and suscibtability to calcareous soil and different diseases and viruses.

CONFERENCES AND TRAININGS:

* Participation  in  the  technical meeting of working group on plant protection of the inter- regional cooperative research network on olives held in marraquech, maroc, from 5 - 7  october 1994.

* Participation in the ninth technical consultation of the inter- regional cooperative research network on olives held in hammamet, tunisia from 20 - 23 september 1995.

* Training on olive culture  at the recyclage center in sfax, tunisia  from 11- 16/03/1995.

* Training on olive culture at the olive institute in sfax, tunisia from 30/03/1997 to 05/04/1997.

* Training on citrus rootstocks  under the project cedre r99 eadd  f57/l  at  the agriculture research institute inra - cirad in  corse from 17 - 20 june, 2001 and at cirad , montpellier from 21 - 23 june, 2001. 

* Participation in the euro- mediterranean advanced training course on olive growing held in naples, Italy, from 2- 6 december, 2002.

 * Participation in the training course on gis for ressources mangement and agrobiodiversity assessment held in lari- tel- amara, lebanon from 19- 23 may 2003 organized by the project " conservation and sustainable use of dryland agrobiodiversity" executed by undp- gef- iral.
