project:
Title:
The effect of Irrigation
& fertilization on olive production of the varieties Souri and
Picholine.
Main objective:
Amelioration of these varieties by reducing the alternancy.
Results: Low amount of water at critical dry periods increase
production.
Duration: 4 years.
3.2: Jujube
project:
Title: Intensive culture of 3 jujube varieties on trellis system.
Main Objective: Orientation of the fruit plant culture to the
trellised system,
Pruning, organic fertilization, IPM techniques are used.
Results: High production yield with better fruit quality were
from the trellised trees (high sugar content, big fruit size).
Duration: started at October 2001 and needs 4 years of production.
3.3:
Citrus:
Title: Study of biological & physiological properties of different
species of citrus grafted on different rootstocks especially on Poncirus
trifoliate.
Main Objective: Citrus grafted on Poncirus trifoliate
rootstock can be cultivated in the mountains.
Duration: 4 years and above
3.4:
Carob project:
Title: Intensive culture of local carob trees.
Main Objective: Reducing the alternancy of the carob tree, by
excessive pruning of the non-productive stems to enlarge the carob main
stems.
Duration: 4 years and above
3.5:
Tropical fruit project mainly Avocado:
Title: Culture of tropical and subtropical fruit plants at internal
areas.
Main Objective: Determination of the Avocado varieties that can
overcome the hoar-frost and the hard season conditions on altitudes
(200-350m)
Duration: started on September 2001 and needs 4 years of production.
3.6:
Propagations by cuttings:
Title: The mass propagation of Ziziphus mela, Ziziphus pera, Passion
fruit and Pomegranate.
Main Objective: Planting these varieties as borders for their low
cost of production and high yield.
Duration: 4 years and above
